A coastal-inspired identity built to balance laid-back energy with a strong point of view.
Challenge
Sidecar needed to bring together two things that don’t usually live in the same lane. A relaxed patio hang and a quality oyster bar.
It had to feel a little elevated, but still easygoing. The kind of place you stop by for a drink after work and end up staying way longer than you planned.
It also needed to live alongside Cooter Brown’s and The Rusty Nail. Same ownership. Same reputation. But a completely different experience. Something that felt connected to that world without repeating it or getting lost in it.
Approach
We built a type-led identity that feels coastal, casual, and confident.
At the center is a custom mark. A palm tree made from oyster shell fronds. It ties the patio atmosphere and the oyster bar together in a way that feels natural, not forced.
Custom lettering and a flexible logo system give the brand a strong presence. The rest of the system stays simple and easy to use.
Everything was designed to show up well in the real world. Menus, signage, merch, and the space itself. Bold, clear, and recognizable.
Outcome
Sidecar launched with a look that feels polished without being pretentious.
It holds its own within a well-known group while carving out a distinct identity. Giving the space a brand that feels as welcoming and relaxed as the experience itself, but unmistakably its own.
